While we may be a new company, Apperian's board of directors boasts an unequivocal quarter-century history of success with startups and entrepreneurship.

Chuck Goldman
CEO
Chuck co-founded Apperian in 2009 to help build enterprise applications for the iPhone and help brands develop transformative point of service mobile applications. Prior to Apperian, Chuck spent the last eight years as the Director of Field Engineering and Professional Services for Apple, Inc where he helped integrate Apple technologies into Apple's largest education and enterprise customer infrastructure. Chuck also worked closely with Apple’s iPhone Enterprise Beta/Software Development Kit (SDK) program and has been helping Apple's Enterprise customer's leverage the iPhone platform since the day it launched.

Chuck was also founder and CEO of Interactive Media Solutions, a company that provided next generation recruiting tools for colleges and universities looking to leverage the internet. At IMS Chuck created America's first "virtual open house" where 400 prospective students and over 80 faculty and staff communicated in real time and conducted virtual leader led tours around campus - all online. IMS also developed powerful middleware that personalized user experience and connected front end users into back-end CRM systems such as PeopleSoft.


Vinit Nijhawan
Chairman
Vinit Nijhawan has over 25 years experience building five startups: as CEO of three, four were acquired, and the fourth has grown to over 400 people. Recently, Vinit was Venture Partner at Key Venture Partners and over two years sourced over 200 deals and made one investment which was acquired for $430M. Vinit is an advisor and board member to several technology startups and was a Mass High Tech All-Star in 2005. Vinit has participated in over 120 panel discussions and paper presentations, and is a Board of Trustee of TiE Global, a non-profit that fosters entrepreneurship globally. Vinit is an Executive-in-Residence at Boston University where he teaches an MBA course on Entrepreneurship. Vinit earned a B.A.Sc in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.


Maia D. Heymann

Maia has worked with dozens of start-ups and growth companies throughout her 20-year career as a venture capitalist and banker. She has made equity investments in over 30 technology companies and has worked for BancBoston Ventures, Bank of America, FleetBoston Financial, and Bank of Boston.

Since 2006 Maia has been a member of CommonAngels, a Boston-area venture capital investment group. In 2009, she joined their Board. Maia is an active angel investor with a portfolio of investments in sectors including software apps, new media, design automation, and business collaboration. From 2004 to 2008 Maia was a Managing Director at BancBoston Ventures, part of Bank of America’s global private equity group. There she and her team managed a diverse $330 million portfolio of venture and private equity. Maia was a Board member of Inventa, Enigma, NetKey, Watchfire and WebCT and a Board observer of Arbinet-TheExchange, BuyerZone, Centric Software, InQuira, Iowa Telecom and others. Some of Maia’s other investments include Docent, Generations Network, MarketAxess, OnDisplay (acquired by Vignette) QPass, and Versata.

Maia opened and managed BancBoston Ventures' Palo Alto, CA office from 1999 to 2002, working closely with Robertson Stephens. Prior to this, Maia originated and structured corporate finance transactions for public and private technology companies and underwrote senior and sub-debt for leveraged buy-out transactions in the technology industry. Maia graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wellesley College and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa.


Peter McKay
With over 20 years of senior management experience with enterprise software companies, Mr. McKay brings extensive expertise in sales, marketing, business development and product development to the Company's Board of Directors.

Mr. McKay was President of eCredit, where in only two years he helped put the company in a dominant market position internationally and grew company revenue by over 500 percent. Before eCredit, he was a Senior Vice President at Computer Associates, where he was responsible for over $500 million in revenue.

Mr. McKay's experience also includes a senior management position at Parametric Technologies, as well as serving on the board of directors and advisory boards of numerous business and professional organizations within the technology industry.
